The big 3!

Main social media corporations
As of May 2017 the biggest 3 social media platforms is Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Personally i'm on all three of them but only use YouTube and Facebook as i have little interest in Twitter.

if you haven't got any of these 3 social media platforms do you really have a social media presence?

The biggest social media platform out now is Facebook. I personally have Facebook and use it to keep in touch with friends and family I don’t always see which is great as it keeps me up to date with their lives and what they are doing. Worldwide, there are over 1.94 billion monthly active Facebook users for March 20117 are you one of the many. Are you one of many people active on Facebook? How do you use Facebook? Business, pleasure or both?  5 new profiles are made on average every second, which means 432,000 new members a day which is just 70,000 less than the population of Edinburgh. There are 83 million fake accounts on Facebook, for people doing research, personally i get at least one friend request from fake accounts each day with no mutual friends with me. However i have no clue why me but if i find out anymore information about this matter i will update this blog or make a new blog and place a link.

The second biggest of all social media is YouTube. Did you know the very first video to be uploaded to YouTube was on 23 April 2005? The total amount of people to use YouTube is 1.3 billion  and on average 5 billion videos are watched a day, are you one of the 1.3 billion? Did you know that YouTube was bought for $1.65 billion from google in 2006 before it was a huge business, so I think that the original owner Alphabet inc. should have waited a little longer and before selling the company as I feel they could have got huge amount more.

Another huge social media platform is Twitter, I personally use Twitter to follow footballers and keep up to date with sports.  There are 310 million monthly active users however 1.3 billion accounts have ever been created.  Out of all those accounts 44% of them made an account and left before ever sending a Tweet. Is this like you? Made an account and never sent a tweet? However the people that do sent Tweets all add up to a days’ worth of tweets would fill a 10 million page book. I’m not a very big fan of Twitter as I find it a lot more complicated compared to Facebook or Instagram although I feel if it was easier to use I would make an account and use Twitter a lot more than other social media platforms.

  2. I have an account with each of these 3 social media platforms and use them all in different ways. My favourite is Facebook too to keep up-to-date with friends/family and to keep up to speed with current news. I agree with you Dylan that Twitter is more complicated to use but I have managed a few tweets :)
