Whether it is personal or business you are using social media for the ethical issues remain the same.
The primary benefit of social media is to communicate with customers and peers easily and effectively.  However, when we do this we are at risk and need to be careful what we are posting.  Once you have published the content it is available instantaneously to a potential global audience.
Integrity risk is a large challenge with regard to social media.  For example, if an employee uses social media in an irresponsible way through their personal social media account, it can undermine the company's commitment to ethical practice and also expose it to an integrity risk. As an employee, posting inappropriate content about your employer can even result in you losing your job.  It is possible for businesses to take action against employees who make inappropriate comments on social media.  Businesses who have a social media policy can raise the ethical question that the policy is too strict and this can sometimes make employees unhappy.
I believe that young people are the most vulnerable when it comes to using social media.  They tend to forget there are ethical issues related when using the likes of Facebook, Instagram etc.  The biggest ethical concern is to protect young vulnerable people who think that social sites are safe places. Far from it!  Do you really know who you are speaking to?? Do you realise everything you post on social media is kept and used by the sites?
So my moral is “DON’T TRUST EVERYONE AND POST CAREFULLY

A great video stating ten ethical issues to bear in mind when using social media.
10 Ethical Issues In Social Media - DON'T BE STUPID
1.  Be mindful where you post and what you post.  Once you put something out there it is there forever.
2.  Be mindful of your copyright and legal issues.
3.  What you say can reach a lot of people.  Don't say anything bad about potential clients or employers.
4.  Think from and employers perspective.  If you are an employer what would you want your staff to be writing about your business.
5.  Practice Good Grammar.  You need to have good grammar and spelling or it will look bad.
6.  Be aware of current events and trends.  Know how to use hashtag.
7.  Know your company's social media guidelines.  Be fully aware of company policies regarding social media, what their goals are and what they expect from you.
8.  Listen to People.  Create good relationships and always respond to feedback.
9.  Never lie or use misguiding information.  Always make sure you get your facts straight before releasing information to the public.
10. DON'T BE STUPID! Be mindful of everything you do.

It goes well with your blog topic if you fancy a look. The layout is very easy to see what your main points are that's you're trying to get across. (I can't seem to get the top right picture but)

  3. Great use of a heading and sub heading it really grabs the readers attention! I agree with this i have a young son who is determined to get onto social media and i'm trying to put it off as long as i can because he isn't mature enough to realise the dangers of social media and as a parent i don't really want to be explaining what can happen as i feel he doesn't need to know how cruel the world can be just yet. Amazing blog well done.

    1. Merci Christelle, yes creating awareness in young people is important, especially in a workplace environment as I don't think people are fully aware of the implications.
